AAMI Golden Slipper
The AAMI Golden Slipper is the richest race in the world for two-year-olds and some of its prestige can be linked to former Sydney Turf Club Chairman, the late Jim Fleming, who held passionately the view that Sydney should have a race to rival what the Melbourne Cup means to Victorians.
With a prize pool of $3.5 million on offer, the race is much more than a sprint for juveniles; it is embraced as being a test for the breeding industry – as demonstrated by the Irish stallion Danehill who went on to sire five winners of the Slipper including Danzero (1994) whose progeny, Dance Hero carved out victory in 2004.

The BMW
The BMW (registered name H.E. Tancred Stakes) is Sydney's premier weight-for-age staying event, and noted for being the only Group 1 weight-for-age 2400m race in Australia. Its total value of $2,250,000 ensures that the high status of this race is deserved.
The feats of previous winners such as Apollo Eleven, Kingston Town, Bonecrusher, Beau Zam, Our Poetic Prince, Octagonal, Might and Power, Tie the Knot, Ethereal and Makybe Diva will remain highlights in racing history.
