Do I need to pre-book my entry tickets?

There is no need to pre-book tickets to gain entry to Canterbury Park or Rosehill Gardens; you can purchase your tickets to either venue at the entry gates when you arrive on the day.

How do I book hospitality or private function spaces?

You may choose to enhance your race day experience by booking into a restaurant, bar or private suite or terrace. It is important to note that unlike general entry, all hospitality and dining options must be pre-booked. Most areas book out quickly so to avoid disappointment, secure your place by using our online booking facility located in the Tickets, Bars and Dining section.

What should I wear to the Races?

Fashion and style are always an important part of any day at the races. We have different dress regulations for the Members' Reserve, General Public stand areas and our hospitality areas. Are fancy dress costumes permitted?

Basically, it’s ok to come to the races in fancy dress costume. However, you need to make sure your outfit does not bear an image, slogan or text which is indecent, discriminatory, obscene, insulting or threatening. Any costume deemed offensive, obscene, insulting, having sexual connotations or which may be offensive to other persons present at the course (as determined by the STC in its sole discretion) will NOT be permitted.

Can I hold my bucks party at Rosehill Gardens?

Unfortunately, we do NOT permit large groups of racegoers in to the course at Rosehill Gardens or Canterbury Park. Such groups include bucks days, sporting groups and end of season football celebrations.

What entitlements do I have as an owner

As an owner of a racehorse competing on the day, you are entitled to four (4) complimentary Members’ Reserve tickets. Two (2) of these tickets also entitles their bearers to enter the enclosure (area adjacent to the mounting yard).A limited number of addition passes to the Members’ Reserve may be purchased. Please contact our Reception on 9930 4000 to clarify your ticket entitlements as they will generally depend on the number of owners and the particular race meeting.Please be advised that you must have some form of photo identification to present to staff at the entry points in order to be able to receive your complimentary entry entitlements.

Getting to the Track

 

How do I get to the racecourse?

Rosehill Gardens is the only racecourse in Sydney which has direct access to a rail line while Canterbury Park is located about a 10-15 minute walk from Canterbury Station. Can I park my car at the races?

Yes, parking is free at both Rosehill Gardens and Canterbury Park racecourses. Public parking is located at the ‘Infield Car Park’ (entrance to this car park via Unwin Street) at Rosehill Gardens. Public parking is located at the ‘Infield Car Park’ and/or ‘King Street Car Park’ at Canterbury Park (entrance via King Street).

Are disabled parking facilities available?

Yes, limited spaces are available in P1 (entrance off Grand Avenue) and P3 (entrance off James Ruse Drive) at Rosehill Gardens. Vehicles must display a valid disabled parking permit pass in order to access this area.

On the Day

 

What time do the races start?

Starting times for race meetings vary from week to week depending on daylight savings and the length of the race program. To find out the race times for a particular day, please view our racing calendar. Night racing at Canterbury Park features a seven-race program which starts at 7pm.

How much does general entry cost?

For regular Saturday and mid-week meetings, entry is $12 for Adults, $4 for Concession and children under 18 years of age are admitted for free. Admission fees increase at key carnival times (such as Golden Slipper Festival, Spring Carnival and Girls’ Day Out and these prices are advertised in advance of the race meeting.

Who is entitled to concession entry?

Concession tickets are available to the following concession holders: aged pension, disabled pension and carer's pension. Free entry is available to all returned service men and women, war widows and disabled war veterans. To purchase a concession ticket, a valid pension card must be presented at the ticket window. Please note that the concession entry price is not applicable to Seniors Card holders.

Where can I smoke on course?

You will find designated smoking areas at Rosehill Gardens behind the J.R. Fleming (public) Stand, on the front lawn and in the betting ring. Smoking is permitted on the front lawn and behind the main grandstand at Canterbury Park. There is strictly NO smoking in all enclosed areas and seating decks at both venues. We ask that our patrons dispose of all cigarette butts thoughtfully.

Where can I purchase a racebook?

Official racebooks including the race program and form guides are available for sale at each of our race meetings. You can purchase a racebook at the entry gates to Rosehill Gardens and Canterbury Park as well as the Cloakrooms at both venues. On special event days, you will also find racebooks for sale from our roaming customer service staff.

Where is lost property?

If you’ve lost something during your day at the races at Rosehill Gardens, you can check to see if it has been handed in to the Guest Relations Office, adjacent to the railway entrance. All retrieved lost property from Canterbury Park and Rosehill Gardens is later delivered to the Lost Property Office located at Canterbury Administration Office, Canterbury Park Racecourse, 98 King Street Canterbury. Enquiries can be made by calling 9930 4000 on the Monday morning after a Saturday race day from 10am.

Are cloakrooms available?

In changing seasons or wet weather, many of our patrons take advantage of the complimentary cloakroom service available at Rosehill Gardens. Cloakrooms are located on the ground level of the Members’ Reserve and J.R. Fleming (public) Stand and close half an hour after the last Sydney race. If you forget to collect something from the cloakroom at the end of the day, it will be sent to LOST PROPERTY.

Does Rosehill Gardens have a parent’s room?

Yes. For the convenience of parents and our youngest racegoers, there is a designated Parent’s Room located on Level 3 of the J.R. Fleming (public) Stand.

What food can I bring in?

Perishable or processed foods intended for GROUP CONSUMPTION such as meats, seafood’s, salads, dairy products and sandwich/fruit/vegetable PLATTERS are NOT permitted. Should you wish to pre-purchase a range of platters available from Rosehill Gardens, you can do so by making a booking here. Guests are welcome to bring in the following food for personal consumption such as individual sandwiches, cheese, dip spreads and biscuits, pieces of fruit, special individual dietary needs foods and individual drinks (NO GLASS OR ALCOHOL) including small flasks of tea and coffee in the general admission and grandstand areas only. Food for personal consumption is not permitted in pre-booked dining areas. No ‘Commercial Food’ is to be bought onto the premises however birthday cakes are permitted. Can I bring a fold up chair and/or a beach umbrella

Fold-up chairs and beach umbrellas are NOT permitted on course. There is seating, both indoor and outdoor, as well as shade structures and umbrellas available at our racecourses. Feel free to take advantage of our complimentary sunscreen lotion which is available from the Guest Relations Office at Rosehill Gardens.

Can I bring my professional camera?

We are more than happy for our patrons to bring small digital cameras for personal use to our race days. However, professional photography is not permitted. If you are a member of the working media, please note that strict guidelines apply to working at the races. Please visit our Media Room for accreditation details.
